Boris Johnson condemns 'despicable' terror attack in Kabul

More Than 40 Dead And Dozens Injured After Bombing In Kabul On Thursday, more than 40 people were killed and dozens wounded in a suicide bombing at a cultural center in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the suicide bomb attack on a Shia cultural center in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul. NPR's Robert Siegel talks to Reuters' Kabul bureau chief James Mackenzie for an update on the details of the attack.

Prior to Thursday's attack, there had been at least 12 attacks on Shiite targets since the start of 2016, in which nearly 700 people were killed or wounded, according to United Nations figures.

Aamaq in its statement also claimed the center was funded by Iran and propagating Shiite beliefs.

Human rights organization Amnesty International said the attack underscored the dangers faced by Afghan civilians and blasted European leaders for forcibly returning Afghan asylum-seekers to the country.

Make triple talaq tough, says Shia board
Talking to media outside Parliament, he said the government is in touch with the political parties in this regard. He said, everyone should help the government to end the age-old tradition of triple talaq in the country.

By late afternoon, Health Ministry spokesman Wahid Mujro said 41 people were dead and 84 others wounded. Its owner Sayed Eissa Hussaini Mazari is a strong proponent of Iran and his publication is dominated by Iranian news. Mesbah said the invasion, which led to decades of war and unrest that continue to the present day, was the "beginning of all of Afghanistan's disasters".

Patnaik added that it was one of the deadliest years on record in the country.

The extremist group is now largely confined to a few remote patches of territory in Syria, but it retains the ability to inspire and carry out attacks further afield.

The Afghanistan branch, which calls itself the Khorasan Province, has stepped up attacks over the past year even as the extremists' self-styled caliphate in Syria and Iraq has collapsed. The Taliban earlier denied responsibility for the blasts.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack, saying that the government was determined to eliminate terrorist groups. The U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, John R. Bass, said, "We remain confident the Afghan government and people, supported by their friends and partners, will defeat those behind these bad acts". The IS in Afghanistan is a toxic mix of Uzbek militants belonging to the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan who broke with the Taliban, as well as disenchanted insurgents who left the much larger and more well-established Taliban. "Today in Kabul, we have witnessed we have witnessed another truly despicable crime in a year already marked by unspeakable atrocities".
