Trump sees talks with North Korea only under 'right conditions'

US President Donald Trump on Monday offered a cautious response to North Korea's offer of dialogue, saying it could only happen "if the conditions are right".

His trip coincides with a visit by Ivanka Trump, sparking speculation that officials from the two sides could meet while in South Korea. The administration's position is that North Korea must get rid of its nuclear and missile programs before any talks can take place.

"We don't really have any finite details right now but we keep telling them we want to see you guys again, we want to maintain this relationship", she said Sunday, predicting Monday's tearful farewell.

Trump stepped up the pressure campaign against North Korea on Friday by slapping sanctions on scores of companies and ships accused of illicit trading with the pariah nation.

"As President Trump has said, there is a brighter path available for North Korea if it chooses denuclearization", Sanders added.

Speaking to Bloomberg, former military musician Lee So-yeon claimed that in addition to playing a key role as part of Kim Jong Un's propaganda machine, the cheerleaders also have to "go to parties and provide sexual services" during parties held at the Central Politburo, the centre of government in North Korea. But let us be completely clear: "Denuclearization must be the result of any dialogue with North Korea", she said.

Hundreds of protesters rallied outside the Olympic Stadium, holding signs like "Killer Kim Yong Chol go to hell", while Kim attended Sunday's closing ceremony with President Moon and US presidential adviser Ivanka Trump.

Kim Yo Jong had no interaction with US Vice President Mike Pence at the opening ceremony, though they were just a few seats apart.

So, where do things stand now between North and South, and with the South's American ally? "We will not allow North Korea's propaganda to hijack the messaging of the Olympics". The North has yet to announce whether it will send another high-level delegation for the event, but both Koreas agreed in a working-level meeting last Tuesday that the North will send a delegation of 24 members, including athletes, members of its national Paralympic committee and support staff. Despite the several angry protests against the North being there, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and other officials held talks with high-ranking North Korean authorities - like the sister of regime leader Kim Jong-un and a controversial North Korean general. Kim's appearance at the closing ceremony has been greeted with outrage by some in South Korea.
