The American Embassy has moved to Twitter

Workmen on Monday put up street signs to the United States embassy due to open in Jerusalem in one week, a move hailed as historic by Israel but loathed by Palestinians.

According to CNN, cities across Israel are eager to honor the 45th president.

The embassy transfer ceremony is slated for Monday.

Breaking with decades of U.S. diplomacy and worldwide consensus President Donald Trump announced on December 6 the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the embassy, located until now in Tel Aviv.

It was the second sign this week of the upcoming move, after Jerusalem municipal workers on Monday erected signposts reading "US Embassy" in Hebrew, Arabic, and English around the site, now a US consular building, in the city's Arnona neighborhood.

Trump's announcement was largely met with applause inside Israel but otherwise drew global consternation.

The decision has enraged Palestinians, who want East Jerusalem - which Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war - as a capital of their future state.

Israel considers the Trump declaration as recognition, albeit long delayed, of a historical fact. In 2015, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority set up a railway, wires and poles around the cemetery, claiming it had a court ruling stating it owned 1,800 square metres of the total area of the Islamic site. The Trump administration has maintained that it remains committed to forging a peace settlement in the region. "We are very pleased by the important decision to move the Paraguayan embassy".

However, Israeli police have played down the prospect of the United States embassy signs being targeted.

In the meantime, Erekat, who is a senior official in the government of Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, said the new embassy is "encouragement of global anarchy" and called on everyone to boycott the event.
